Hi from Berlin,
Welcome to the second recap mailing of European Embedded Finance 2026. As a reminder, I am using the quiet weeks of August to recap all news from the past year. Today, we are recapping Vertical SaaS and ERP. The full schedule looks like this:
- Marketplaces and Consumer Brands (EFR)
- Vertical SaaS and ERP (Today)
- Enablers and Market Moves (Aug 25th)

Today's mailing is split into the following sub-categories:
- Big platforms extend into payments
- Niche verticals get payments
- Back-office and ERP payments
- Banking meets X
- New Places for Lending
And now let's dive in! 👇
Building something in embedded finance? Whether you are a brand comparing providers, an enabler working through your go-to-market strategy, or a team trying to fill a crucial (fintech) role, my office hours are a free call to talk it through. I share my honest read and, where it helps, intros to my network.
Big platforms extend into payments
Three horizontal platforms going deeper into payments.
- Squarespace × Stripe: Built Payments, Capital and Balance. The stack rolls out in the US first, then Europe. (EFR)
- Wix × Stripe: Expanded Wix Payments to 11 EMEA countries, following Shopify's playbook into embedded finance. (EFR)
- Canva × PayPal: Added Payment Links to its Marketplace. A good first step; the case for a fully embedded product is already there. (EFR)
Niche verticals get payments
Four platforms proving embedded payments work even in narrow, sometimes regulated verticals.
