Today I'm speaking with Christopher Meyer-Mölleringhof from Fressnapf Maxi Zoo. The company is a pet retailer and sells food, toys and other items for your dog, fish or cat. The brand Fressnapf is quite present in the German market, and even people without pets, like myself, have noticed their stores before. Fressnapf is offering an embedded insurance product for pets, and Christopher is the person behind this. I'm speaking with him about how embedded insurance looks like for a pet retailer, why he thinks the product could be a blueprint, and his personal views on the overall embedded insurance landscape.

Lars Markull: Hi Christopher. Welcome to the podcast. How are you doing today, and in what part of the world are you located right now?
Christopher Meyer-Mölleringhof: Thank you for the invitation. I'm doing good. I caught a little cold, but feeling okay, feeling good. Happy to be with you today. And I'm located in Munich.
Lars Markull: Great. So maybe this podcast episode gives you a bit more energy. Obviously beginning of the year, the usual time where people have troubles with colds and these things.
Christopher, today we're going to do a bit of a deep dive on the topic of embedded insurance for pets. So I guess maybe a good intro or kickoff question is, you personally, are you rather a pet guy or an insurance guy? What's your background?
Christopher Meyer-Mölleringhof: I love pets. I'm in love with dogs. And I spent my entire career so far on innovating, building and transforming businesses. It's my passion. And I have done it the last years in the area of insurance business.
