Embedded Finance Review Podcast, episode 12. Published 1 November 2024. Guest: Jarvey Moss, founder of Saible. Host: Lars Markull.

Lars Markull: Welcome to the Embedded Finance Review Podcast. My name is Lars Markull. In this episode I'm speaking with Jarvey, who is the founder of Saible. Saible targets the construction industry and offers some payment services. In this episode we are speaking about the construction industry as a whole, and what kind of tech and fintech stack they're using today. We touch on Saible's mission and how Jarvey sees this industry changing. And of course I'm asking him the question whether Saible is vertical fintech or embedded finance. Let's dive in.

Welcome

Lars Markull: Hey Jarvey. Welcome to the podcast. How are you doing today, and in what part of the world are you actually located right now?

Jarvey Moss: Morning, Lars. I am very well, thank you. And I am in Birmingham in the UK, not Birmingham in Alabama.

Lars Markull: Great. Great to have you on the show here and talk a lot, I guess, about the intersection or the topic of financial services specifically for one industry. You have chosen the industry of construction services, starting in the UK. Maybe to kick things off, obviously this is an embedded finance podcast. Not everybody knows about every industry in very much detail, and now that I've looked into a lot of different industries, one of the first questions I always have when looking at a new industry is, how is the current setup when it comes to financial services? What are the biggest pain points? When you initially started reaching out to them, what did you realise was the biggest friction when it comes to money?

The cash flow problem in construction

Jarvey Moss: Yes, a good question. The pain point that we address at Saible is to do with the way that money flows through supply chains. And I think it's fair to say that the biggest pain point in the industry as a whole is around cash flow. The industry suffers from a very high insolvency rate, due to very poor cash flow. And much of that is down to the way that the money moves through the supply chain. So we're addressing one of the biggest pain points in the industry.
