HiBob Partners with Modulr to Automate Payroll Payments

HiBob Partners with Modulr to Automate Payroll Payments

HiBob has been building toward a complete financial operating system for scaling businesses for over a year. The HR platform launched its own UK payroll product in September 2024, handling wage calculations, leave management, and automatic reporting to UK tax authorities and pension providers. It then acquired financial planning tool Mosaic in early 2025, launched native US payroll in September, and followed that with Bob Finance in November, combining HR, payroll, and financial planning in one product. The Modulr partnership is the piece that completes the loop.

Automating payroll payments inside HiBob

Until now, HiBob customers had to log in to a separate bank portal to send salary payments after approving payroll in the platform. The partnership with UK payments automation provider Modulr removes that final step. Once payroll is approved in HiBob, salary payments and tax submissions to the UK government are automatically processed by Modulr. No manual file exports, no separate bank portal, no cross-system reconciliation. Approval and payment execution happen in the same environment.

The problem this solves is not trivial. Up to 25% of UK employees experience payroll errors, a figure both companies attribute largely to fragmented, manually intensive payment workflows. For finance and payroll teams at growing businesses, pay day is still one of the most operationally risky moments of the month.

HiBob's push to own the financial workflow

Each of HiBob's moves over the past year has reduced the number of systems a scaling business needs to run its people and financial operations. The Modulr partnership handles the actual movement of money. HiBob is not positioning itself as a fintech, but it is increasingly controlling the financial workflow that matters most to its customers. The more that happens inside Bob, the harder it becomes to replace the platform.
