Conferma, a virtual payment platform for business travel, has added Modulr as a connected issuer. The integration lets travel management companies (TMCs), online travel agencies (OTAs), and corporate travel programmes issue Modulr virtual cards directly within Conferma's platform. Conferma connects over 90 banks with 90,000 travel suppliers and is integrated with major Global Distribution Systems like Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport.
What it solves
B2B travel payments have traditionally required pre-funding cards, holding weekend balances, and manual reconciliation. With Modulr as a connected issuer, travel bookings can be funded, issued, and paid in seconds; without pre-funding over weekends or holding excess balances. The virtual cards work for hotels, airfares, and other in-program spend, with real-time reconciliation and centralised reporting.
Modulr's travel push
This isn't Modulr's first move into travel. Earlier this year, Modulr partnered with Juniper Travel Technology to provide virtual cards for online travel agencies. The company processes over 300 million transactions annually with an annualised payment volume exceeding £150 billion. Being a principal issuing member of Visa and Mastercard means Modulr can issue cards directly rather than relying on a sponsor bank, giving it more control over the product and economics.
